Genesis 39-40

Genesis 39:21

“But the LORD was with Joseph and showed him steadfast love and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.”

Though Joseph has wrongly been thrown in prison, the LORD is still with him and orchestrates events. As we learned with Job, a fall from success does not mean a fall from God’s favor. Joseph is right where God needs him to be.

When our circumstances change for the worse, we wonder why God would allow these problems into our lives. But like Joseph, we must keep faith and trust that even the most difficult of circumstances can be used for our benefit and God’s glory if we keep our focus on Him.

LORD, help me to keep my eyes on You, even when my circumstances make me try to rely on myself. Help me to trust You and seek Your will.
