“And Jacob said to Joseph, ‘God Almighty appeared to me at Luz in the land of Canaan and blessed me, and said to me, ‘Behold, I will give this land to your offspring after you for an everlasting possession.'”
In his dying moments, Jacob transfers the message of God’s blessing to his sons. This promise is his legacy.
We all want to be remembered for something important, but the only lasting legacy resides in the promise of God. What is important is that His promise lives on through our children and grandchildren and that we nurture the faith of future generations. If we aren’t passing on a growing fervor for the Lord, we are wasting our efforts.
As a parent, help me to be mindful of the way I raise my children. Help me to be dedicated to growing them in relationship with You, Lord, as I grow in relationship with You.
